Deputy Martijn van Gruijthuijsen (Economics, Knowledge and Talent Development): “Brabant is the innovative region of the Netherlands, where ‘tinkering and fiddling’ together leads to new technology, products and solutions for our challenges today and tomorrow. Our campuses and innovation districts are a focal point for that, meeting places where ideas can take flight. With this implementation agenda we continue to develop these locations with a view to the future. This view of the future also means that we must offer students – the talent of tomorrow – the best preparation for the labor market. That is why they find internships and opportunities at our incubators to take their first steps on the labor market or start a business.”
Breeding grounds for talent
The province is developing 10 hybrid learning environments throughout Brabant. Hybrid learning environments are breeding grounds where education and business come together. Here are students and companies, there is room for internships and space can be shared by companies, startups, makers and students. In addition, these are important places for retraining and further training. These incubators are being developed in collaboration with the Brabant municipalities, the labor market regions, social partners, the Brabant Knowledge Pact (the Brabant ROCs), the colleges, universities, triple helix organizations and campus organisations. Examples of these breeding grounds are the AI Gaming Campus in Breda, Mindlabs in Tilburg and the Chocolate Factory in Meijerijstad.
