In the settlement of the bankruptcy of Welkom Energie, there is an amount of approximately 20 million euros in outstanding claims. According to the trustee, this concerns approximately 70,000 small consumers who are creditors, on average for an amount of 285 euros.
Welcome Energie was declared bankrupt at the end of last year. The company ran into problems due to high energy prices. Welcome Energy could no longer guarantee security of supply and therefore asked the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) to withdraw the licence.
The bankruptcy trustee, who is settling the bankruptcy, recently sent a letter to customers who still have outstanding claims. If it is clear that there is still money left over after settlement, the claims will be examined in more detail.
Welcome Energie customers were placed with Eneco. It was previously known that they might lose money. Customers who still have money from the energy supplier, for example a welcome bonus or because a large installment amount has been paid in advance, will probably not see this in full.
