A 23-year-old motorist who fled from the police in the German town of Ludwigsburg was not only fined by the court, he must also sell his BMW within three months.
In April, the 23-year-old Ludwigsburg resident was caught skidding his rear wheels to brag to his friends. He fled and raced through the city center at more than 100 kilometers per hour. He also ignored red traffic lights, drove over a sidewalk to avoid waiting cars and forced another driver to swerve, the police said. Stuttgart Nights.
Police eventually lost track of him, but the young man was found shortly after. He had parked his 326-horsepower BMW 440i in the courtyard of the fire station. A firefighter called the police and the man was arrested. The defendant denied having run a red light and forced a driver to swerve. He indicated that he was stressed by the corona pandemic and that therefore he had a blackout and fled.
The judge fined him plus a six-month driving ban. In addition, the man was sentenced to a so-called conditional confiscation. The 23-year-old has three months to sell his car as well as possible. 7,000 euros of the proceeds will go to the state treasury. If this is not possible, the car will still be impounded.
