A woman imprisoned for threatening RIVM chief Jaapvan Dissel

A 54-year-old woman who threatened online against Jaapvan Dissel, a key member of the government’s coronavirus outbreak control team, was imprisoned for eight weeks and four were suspended.

A woman from Apeldoorn was convicted of agitation after sharing her home address in Vandissel via the message service Telegram and calling on people to “bring bricks for his birthday.” I received it.

A second woman from Terneuzen at the age of 53 was imprisoned for six weeks and four were suspended for disseminating a video about Van Düssel being a pedophile.

During the trial, Hans Brug, director of the RIVM Institute for Public Health, said his staff had reached their limits. “RIVM can accept it, and we do not avoid criticism, in fact the opposite,” he said. “But this case goes a step further and is aimed at one person.”

An official Telegram group investigation is still underway and police say they will not rule out further arrests.
