Ajax also measures PSV in topper (5-0) and strengthens the lead

Plagued PSV starts strong

After the impressive 4-0 victory over Dortmund, the leader of the Eredivisie was confidently looking forward to the top match with number two PSV, which beforehand had only one point less than the team from Amsterdam and in August even with the same figures in the Johan Cruijff scale. (4-0) had managed to beat Ajax.

A few months later, the sentiment in Eindhoven and Amsterdam is very different. Roger Schmidt’s team often had to go deep in recent weeks for the victory against low-flyers such as Sparta and PEC Zwolle and received a solid blow in the Europa League on Thursday: not only did it lose 2-1 to AS Monaco, it also hit tastemaker Cody. Gakpo out with an injury.

PSV coach Schmidt therefore had to improvise and surprisingly chose Eran Zahavi and Carlos Vinicius as the attacking duo, which resulted in three decent chances in the first ten minutes. After barely three minutes, Vinicius headed to the ground in free position, but just not far enough towards the corner.

Ajax goalkeeper Remko Pasveer, who also made an impression against Dortmund, saved skilfully, as he did a little later with shots from Zahavi and Bruma.
