In the week of June 21, all people over 18 can report to the GGD for an appointment for a vaccination with the Janssen vaccine. This is reported by the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) on Friday afternoon.
1 shot is enough
The Janssen vaccine is a safe and effective vaccine, with the practical advantage that one shot is enough to be fully vaccinated. That is why Minister De Jonge of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) wants to offer the vaccine to every adult who wants it. People who already have an appointment for vaccination with a different vaccine but still want Janssen can also call and convert their appointment to one shot with the Janssen vaccine.
75,000 to 125,000 vaccines available
The Janssen option will start in the week of June 21, because from then approximately 75,000 Janssen vaccines will be available, and 125,000 in the week of June 28, depending on deliveries.
Make an appointment at GGD
As soon as the option opens, interested parties can call a special telephone number of the GGD-GHOR Nederland to make an appointment for vaccination with the Janssen vaccine. They can then either make an appointment immediately or be placed in a queue so that they can still make an appointment at a later time after an SMS alert. The GGD will vaccinate people with the Janssen vaccine in at least one location within each GGD region. Further practical details will be announced later.
