British dating app users will soon be able to indicate on their profile that they have been vaccinated. Dating apps will also offer gifts to people who have received a shot. The UK government has agreed this with some of the country’s widely used dating apps in the hopes of increasing vaccine readiness.

Users of Tinder, Hinge, Bumble and Badoo will soon be able to indicate with a ‘vaccination badge’ that they have received a shot against the corona virus. In addition, several dating apps will also be free’super likes‘ and ‘boostoffer to vaccinees. These are features that increase the chance of a match. The promotion is accompanied by an information campaign that provides users with information about the vaccine and where to get it.

“I am very happy to be working with dating apps to ensure that we increase the number of vaccines delivered,” said British minister Nadhim Zahawi, who is responsible for the vaccination programme.

A survey commissioned by the British government recently found that 28 percent of Britons surveyed do not want to date someone who has not (yet) received the vaccine. 52 percent of those surveyed would not let it depend, although 31 percent did prefer a vaccinated dating partner.

In England and Scotland, people over 18 can get a vaccine from this week. In Northern Ireland and Wales, anyone over 18 was already eligible.

‘Hot vax summer’

In May, a similar collaboration between the US government and dating apps was initiated in the United States. The United States is preparing for a hot summer and local media are already talking about the ‘hot vax summer.’ Weekly magazine New York Post headlined a ‘slutty summer’ ahead for single vaccinated New Yorkers.
