Baldwin already fired a weapon on set ‘Rest’ for fatal shot, camera crew left because of unsafe work situation | show

Days before actor Alec Baldwin accidentally fired the shot that killed camerawoman Halyna Hutchins, there had been problems with a movie gun before during the filming of the film. Peace. That write the LA Times and showbiz site Deadline. At least six members of the camera crew left the film set hours before the fatal incident. They had complained about the poor working conditions.

A few days before the drama, a weapon is said to have gone off spontaneously twice in a closed cabin. “One person was holding a gun and then it just went off,” said an anonymous source. It is not clear if it is the same weapon that killed Hutchins.

According to Deadline One of the camera crew wrote on Facebook about the harsh working conditions during the filming: “We have complained about everything: overdue salary, our hotel nights being taken away, lack of corona measures and – as if that were not enough – insufficient gun safety. ”

The complaints of the cameramen – all unionized – were not tolerated by the production company. He told the crew that they could pack their bags. “They even threatened to call the police,” said a crew member. At least six employees then left around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, about five hours before the deadly shooting.

Camera director Hutchins would also have argued for a safer work situation. At least that’s what an anonymous employee of the film tells the LA Times. “There were cutbacks – and so new people were hired who were not unionized – so that the shooting could go on,” said an informed source.

Production company initiates investigation

“The safety of our actors and crew is a top priority for Rust Productions and everyone associated with the company,” Rust Movie Productions LLC said in a statement. “While we have not received any official complaints about the safety of weapons or props on set, we will conduct an internal review of our practices while shooting is halted. We will continue to work with local authorities in their investigation and provide trauma care to the actors and crew at this tragic time.”
