Formula 1 will not return to German soil in 2022. That is the expectation of Stefano Domenicali, the boss of Formula 1. “I have the feeling that the organizations themselves do not have the confidence that they can organize a race,” Domenicali said in conversation with Sport Bild magazine.
Formula 1 has visited Hockenheim and the Nürburgring in the past, but both circuits are no longer part of the motorsport class. Last year the GP of the Eifel was held on the Nürburgring.
Organizations have become more reluctant to organize a Grand Prix. Domenicali doesn’t quite understand the concern. “Just look at Zandvoort, that is already sold out for the coming years,” said the boss, who also expects the new race in Miami to be sold out quickly.
Domenicali said he has a 23-race season in mind for next year “with a third of the races in Europe”. The season is expected to start again in Bahrain.
