The leader of Alpecin-Fenix, who won two stages in Switzerland this week, has a bit of a cold.

According to his Belgian team Alpecin-Fenix, Van der Poel has contracted a slight cold due to the wet weather. The medical staff has decided that it is better to take him off the race, so as not to further damage his health in view of the upcoming competitions.

Alpecin-Fenix ​​says that the Dutch champion and his teammates have been tested for the corona virus every two days. All tests were negative.

Van der Poel will defend his title at the Dutch National Championships on the road next week and then start in the Tour de France. The cyclist wants to compete for medals in mountain biking at the Tokyo Olympics.
