The Institute for Public Health RIVM has been notified of 7,025 new cases of coronavirus in the 24 hours until Sunday morning. Saturday was down 617, but it’s still on the rise.
The number of positive tests in the past week has increased by about 20% compared to the previous week. In addition, new infections on Sundays and Mondays tend to be lower than the rest of the week.
The number of people receiving coronavirus treatment has increased slightly, of which 611 are receiving intensive care.
Ministers met with the government’s medical adviser to discuss the latest situation prior to Tuesday’s Sunday press conference, but some members of the outbreak control team are now out of rules given the growing number of incidents. It has already publicly stated that it cannot be mitigated.
Broadcaster NOS reported on Sunday afternoon that current measures, including a curfew at 9 pm, will continue until April. NOS bases its claim on cabinet sources.
Prime Minister Mark Rutte said two weeks ago that he hopes to reopen the cafe terrace on the Easter weekend.
