Crimean gold from Allard Pierson also awarded to Ukraine on appeal

Why only now a statement?

The fact that the appeal has only now been decided is because the case has been silent for almost two years. Ukraine wanted to avenge (replace) one of the judges in the case because he once worked as a lawyer in the Yukos cases that were served in the Netherlands. They were about the Russian oil and gas company Yukos, which was expropriated and broken up by the Russian government. According to the Ukrainians, the judge of the Crimean case would have cooperated with the lawyers who now stand in court on behalf of the Crimean museums.

The appeal request was initially rejected by the judge, but eventually the judge was replaced because he had unintentionally provided incorrect information. This could give the appearance of partiality according to a second challenge chamber. As a result, a new judge had to be sought, who then had to read through the file.
