Max Verstappen missed pole position for the Miami Grand Prix on Saturday. The world champion had to settle for third place in his Red Bull behind the Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, but was not dissatisfied. “Overall, I’m pretty happy with qualifying. Of course I want to take pole position, but if you look at where we came from, we did quite well,” he said.
Verstappen had a difficult first day of training at the new circuit in Miami. In the second practice he did not even set a single lap time due to problems with his Red Bull. “Today I really had to get to know the track, so it was quite a surprise that I was competitive in qualifying.”
Verstappen had gained enough confidence for Sunday’s race. “We have a good chance in the race tomorrow. We have enough top speed and I’m looking forward to it. A lot can happen.”
