Despite vaccination, the Netherlands ‘still has a few solid months ahead’

Healthcare minister Hugo de Jonge assumes that “we really have a few solid months ahead of us”. The cabinet is “of course concerned” about the new British corona variant, which is more contagious than the current virus, De Jonge said on Tuesday prior to the cabinet’s crisis meeting on the corona crisis.

He pointed to the situation in England: “Overcrowded hospitals and in some areas of London an infection rate of one in twenty people. That is of course very creepy. ”

‘Firm months ahead’

He warned that we are still not rid of it in the Netherlands. “We have started the vaccination. That is a hopeful fact, but we cannot infer that we are almost there. We really have a few solid months ahead of us. ” This also applies to entrepreneurs: “These are really difficult months. We really have to keep it going before we get there ”.
