ResumeFC Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman did not close his eyes to reality after the painful home defeat against Bayern Munich (0-3) in the Champions League.
,,Of course the disappointment dominates because you lose a home match 3-0”, he confessed to RTL7. ,,But if you look realistically at both teams, this can happen, especially given the problems we have up front. As a result, the choices are very limited and you miss a lot of speed, for example. This was the best we could do. I’m happy with the response from the fans, who showed that they understand the situation we are in.”
Koeman was still satisfied with the first half hour in which Barcelona gave the German champion a nice match. ,,However, we unfortunately fell behind due to a shot that was deflected. If we had lasted until the break, it would have given us energy again. But later in the game you could see the difference between the two teams, a clear difference in quality.”

Koeman: ,,On the one hand you have to accept this, but on the other hand you don’t want to accept it. But if you look at the physical condition of both teams, Bayern is clearly much stronger. That team has so much power. We simply don’t have enough players of the highest level at the moment. I believe we have ended up with four or five players of about 18 years old. They are going to be very good, but they are only 18, then you just fall short against a team like Bayern.”
Due to the absence of a large number of attackers, mercenary Luuk de Jong was immediately able to make his debut at Barcelona as a basic player. ,,He hadn’t played a game this season,’ Koeman realized. ,,You know what you have in him. With him you miss the real speed up front. But we had no other choice. Of course he has a lot of head power, but Bayern also got our crosses well.”
