A Dutch soldier was injured in Afghanistan. This happened during a shooting practice at Camp Marmal, the camp in the north of the country where the Dutch are stationed.
The Marechaussee is investigating what exactly happened. The soldier was injured in the arm. He had surgery in the field hospital in the camp.
The condition of the injured soldier is stable, the Ministry of Defense reports. He is flown to the Netherlands for further care.
The wounded soldier is one of approximately 150 Dutch nationals who are part of NATO’s Resolute Support mission. One of their tasks is to advise and train the Afghan security services.
