A12 near Zoetermeer closed due to Nelson Mandela Bridge repairs

The A12 near Zoetermeer will be closed in both directions until 08:00 on the morning of Saturday, December 31st, and a section of the Nelson Mandela Bridge across the A12 will be replaced with a temporary bridge section. This can cause significant delays. A detour will be put in place, so the driver should allow him 30-45 minutes of extra travel time. Extra travel time of 1.5 hours may be added during busy periods.

Traffic from The Hague goes through Leiden or Rotterdam. Traffic from Gouda and Utrecht is diverted from the Gwe he junction via Leiden or via Rotterdam.

In early December, Zoetermeergemeente closed abruptly due to the danger of the Nelson Mandela Bridge over the A12 collapsing. This was facilitated by two of his investigations into structural cracks.

The Mandela Bridge is an important connection for the city of Zoetermeer and the only way to reach the Zoetermeer railway station.
