Edwin Evers thinks he is too selfish for a relationship: ‘I want to be able to continue at night until 4 a.m.’ | show

Özcan Akyol conducts the conversation on the basis of the new songs that Edwin Evers has made. The number Whoever is very personal and that brings the conversation to the radio icon’s latest stranded relationship. “In the end I was the one who didn’t want that anymore. It is of course a misunderstanding that the person who ends a relationship cannot experience any pain himself. You make a choice, once the choice is made, then the pain begins.”

The 50-year-old radio DJ, who is currently causing a furore as a singer, explains that he made the choice because of his strong desire for freedom. Akyol wonders if he’ll make that choice even at the expense of love. “Yes”, Evers responds after a silence. “But then of course there is something in a relationship that is not good.”

Still, in the years that followed, he never took a leap of faith with a new love partner. ,,I also have the idea that as you get older you don’t want to give up that freedom so quickly. I am someone who likes to go his own way. Doing that in a relationship is of course very selfish, that’s not possible,” says Evers. ,,I’m talking about the freedom to dive into the studio in the evening and get out of there at 4:00 am. I like that.”

He prefers to be responsible for his own choices. “I just like to come and go without being held accountable for it.”
