“It is a great team,” says Rafael van der Vaart in Studio Voetbal about the new PSV, which impressed in the preliminary rounds of the Champions League and the Eredivisie started with a 2-0 win at Heracles Almelo. “They have so much quality, so much speed up front, Madueke is in great form. It just fits.”
According to Van der Vaart, the difference with last season is big with the team of coach Roger Schmidt. “There is much more peace in the team, with footballing ability. I am really enjoying PSV. It will be a really fantastic competition. If you look at Ajax, you miss a bit of speed in the front.”
Theo Janssen: “Ajax is especially good at positional play.”
Van der Vaart: “PSV can do both. I am impressed.”

Van Hooijdonk: “What PSV has done well is to have the selection ready when you have to perform.”
Next Wednesday, PSV will play in the play-offs of the Champions League against Benfica in Lisbon. The return is six days later in Eindhoven. “They can really make it,” Arno Vermeulen thinks. “We are talking about a match of 20 million euros. It should be possible now.”
