Farioli’s Debut Ajax Line-up: Criticized Signings Given Chance to Shine
Farioli, the new head coach of Ajax, faces the challenging task of restoring the club to its former glory. As the fifth-ranked team from last season in the Netherlands, he has been on the training ground for a few weeks now, aiming to imprint his playing principles on the team. In a practice match against PEC Zwolle, it will be seen whether Farioli has successfully integrated some of his ideas into the squad.
Due to the absence of European Championship players, including Josip Sutalo and Borna Sosa who are still on holiday after featuring for Croatia, and others like Ahmetçan Kaplan, Steven Bergwijn, and Brian Brobbey preparing for international duty, Farioli faces initial challenges in fielding his ideal lineup.
The match between Ajax and PEC Zwolle will be broadcast live on Ziggo Sport. Ajax starts with Ramaj in goal, signed from Eintracht Frankfurt last year. The defense features Devyne Rensch, Medic, Dies Janse, and Jorrel Hato. Medic, despite being listed for departure, has reportedly impressed Farioli, according to Voetbal International. In midfield, Farioli opts for Jordan Henderson, Branco van den Boomen, and Kenneth Taylor, while Forbs, Akpom, and Mika Godts are tasked with providing attacking threat and goals.
Kick-off for the Ajax versus PEC Zwolle match is at 14:00. Expectations are that Farioli will introduce a different eleven in the second half, with reserves including Remko Pasveer, Owen Wijndal, Benjamin Tahirovic, Sivert Mannsverk, and Julian Rijkhoff.
