FC Emmen has taken points at Fortuna Sittard for the seventh game in a row. Coach Dick Lukkien’s team won 3-1 by two penalty kicks from Sergio Peña and Glenn Bijl and a ticker from Paul Gladon. Dimitris Emmanouilidis scored once for Fortuna.
The Drenthe club comes through the victory on 21 points and has only 1 point less than VVV-Venlo and Willem II, who are respectively fifteenth and sixteenth. Fortuna remains twelfth with 34 points.
Fortuna played the majority of the second half with ten men, after Roel Janssen had received red after holding Gladon. Peña then used the penalty kick. Gladon seemed to take care of the 2-0, but after watching the video images, referee Joey Kooij rejected the goal for offside. In the first half, Gladon’s goal was also disallowed for a foul.
Emmanouilidis seemed to become Fortuna’s hero with his late equalizer. But with Bijl’s light hold, the Greek took the second penalty for Emmen, which Bijl managed to use. In injury time, Gladon had his hit with a ticker than. (ANP)
