Oranje, weak against Ecuador in World Cup, draw 1-1

Soccer The Dutch national team managed only a 1-1 draw against Ecuador in the second match of the World Cup in Qatar.

Cody Gakpo scored for Orange in the sixth minute, but Ecuador disallowed a goal for offside just before half-time. Hener Valencia then scored for Ecuador in the 49th minute.

“We didn’t lose, that’s the important thing,” said coach Louis van Gaal after the game. ‘Now in possession he has to work on the game’

A win would have already guaranteed the Dutchman a place in the Round of 16. The top two teams in each group have advanced, with Ecuador and the Netherlands taking four points from his three games.

Oranje’s final games are against Qatar on Tuesday and Ecuador against Senegal.
