FC Twente asks fans to refrain from compensation for missed duels | Dutch football

FC Twente will ask the supporters to waive compensation for the missed matches this season. Financial director Martijn Hoogstoevenbeld hopes that this will allow an amount of between 2.5 and 3 million euros to be waived. He said this on Wednesday evening at the online New Year’s reception of the Enschede club.

FC Twente presented the season ticket holders with three options on the eve of this season due to the corona crisis. Supporters could forgo full compensation, be compensated for the number of matches missed or they could get the money back in the form of 100 euros in drinks. Seventy percent of the 20,000 season ticket holders opted for compensation, 35 percent wanted to be repaid in full.

Almost all clubs in the premier league have to deal with this and are therefore particularly afraid of noticing the consequences of the crisis next season if plenty of compensation is needed.

No more fans

Hoogstoevenbeld commented on Wednesday evening that they now assume financially at FC Twente that there will be no more fans in De Grolsch Veste this season. That means a huge loss for the coming season. “It is very unfortunate that we have to ask our supporters again, but otherwise it has major consequences for our liquidity,” he says.

Last season, 90 percent eventually struck a hand over the heart, but then it was about compensation for the last three home matches.
