Félix Auger-Aliassime has been aiming for the Halle grass tournament by eliminating defending champion and ten-time winner Roger Federer in the eighth finals. The number 21 in the world beat the Swiss (5) with 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
In the first set, one break was enough for Federer to take the set, although he still had a hard time serving the set (two break chances against). After that, the 39-year-old Swiss had trouble getting a grip on the 20-year-old Canadian’s serve and after that one chance in the first set, there were no chances to break.
Auger-Aliassime simply served too well: the Canadian also won the last game on love and finished with an ace.
