Feyenoord scored a shock victory over Lazio to advance to the next round top of their Europa League group. The Rotterdam club were bottom at half-time with De He Cuype before Santiago his Jiménez winner overturned the whole group in the second half.
Feyenoord knew before the match they were out of their hands. Manager Arne Slott argued that Feyenoord should focus on beating Lazio. The Rotterdamers knew a third-place finish meant conference league football next season. He named Igor Paixiao in the line-up, giving the winger his first start for the club.
Feyenoord got their first chance within a minute. Lazio defender Patrick slipped the ball and Danilo picked it up, but the Brazilian didn’t get a good shot and spread the ball wide.

This is a great achievement for Arne Slot and his men, who knocked out a much better-performing team in Lazio. The Rotterdam club will wait for Monday’s knockout stage draw to find their next opponents in this season’s Europa League. Lazio play in the conference league.
