Foreign Legion FC Sheriff stunts at Champions League debut

In 1997, Gusan added the FC Sheriff football club to his conglomerate, which also included Sheriff supermarkets, Sheriff gas stations, Sheriff car dealerships, a Sheriff bread factory, a Sheriff liquor factory, a Sheriff telephone network and its own Sheriff television channel.

A handful of firsts

The first game, the first goal and the first win. But even with the first revolution of the ball, there were already two firsts to note: FC Sheriff was the first club in a Champions League match to take office without players from their own country.

Shakhtar also had a special feature. The club, which is known for its large Brazilian contribution, started a game with eight Brazilians for the first time. The record remained in the hands of SC Braga, which won 2-0 at home against Partizan Belgrade on October 19, 2010 with no fewer than ten Brazilian basic players.
