They had to wait for it in Getafe, but after ten years the team has scored again against Atlético Madrid. Still, it was not enough for the first points of the season. In the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez it became 1-2 for the Madrilenians in injury time.
The match got off to a slow start. Halfway through the first half, the home team actually created a chance, but José Maciás’ completion was exemplary for the game. The Getafe striker had room to lash out, but he tried something with the outside of his foot instead. The ball rolled past the goal over the back line.
Just before half time, the home side took the lead, albeit with some luck. Mitrovic’s header first hit the post and then hit the goal through the hand of Atletico keeper Jan Oblak.
Ten minutes into the game, thanks to poor defense by Getafe, Atlético had the chance to take the lead, but a volley from Luis Suarez went straight for goalkeeper David Soria.
