Annual Menzis 4 Mijl van Groningen returns – The Northern Times

On Sunday, October 8, the people of Groningen may catch more than 20,000 people finishing their runs at the Vismarkt. The annual Menzis 4 Mijl van Groningen (Menzis 4 miles from Groningen) will be hosted in what is the largest running event in the Northern Netherlands.

Participants begin the race in Kerklaan, Haren and end in Groningen’s Vismarkt. The 6,437-meter charity run has been hosted since 1987 to raise funds for the Sports and Culture Youth Fund Groningen.

The event this year has seen a record number of entrants sign up, with the organizers expecting 21,000 runners this year according to their official website. With the weather looking clear and runners revving to go, tomorrow cannot come soon enough for all the participants running for a good cause.
