Giro 777 makes a gesture of 1000 euros to severely affected individual households in Limburg

Maastricht

The Giro 777 campaign of the National Disaster Fund appears to have raised more than 8.5 million euros within a week. Thanks to the contributions of more than 150,000 donors, it is possible to show compassion to all those individual households that have been severely affected by the flooding. The National Disaster Fund provides this money to the municipalities, which in turn quickly pass it on to affected households.

This concerns a one-off gift of 1,000 euros for approximately 8,000 households (according to the municipalities). Municipalities submit an application and receive the budget for this from the National Disaster Fund. With this financial gesture, all donors of Giro 777 want to put a heart to those affected, so that they can continue with the repair work, pending insurance money and possible support from the government.

Chairman Clémence Ross-van Dorp: “It is gratifying that so many people and organizations donate. Due to this success, a gesture of 1000 euros can also be made to those who have been seriously affected by the flooding. Municipalities can submit an application to the National Disaster Fund. It is the local government that ensures that the money reaches those affected quickly and without further ado. As of this afternoon, foundations, associations and social organizations can also submit their application for social projects.”

The form will be posted later today on www.giro777.nl with which an application can be submitted for financial support for small-scale projects. The preconditions for granting can also be found on the website.

The project proposals for social initiatives will be assessed by a committee of committed and expert committee members. Tof Thissen (director UWV Werkbedrijf) has been appointed as chairman of the committee. Other members are Henk Smid (former director of the organization for health research and care innovation ZonMw), Marja van Dieijen-Vissen (former chairman of the Maastricht UMC+ board), Petra Dassen-Housen (mayor of Kerkrade) and Laurens van Rossem (student Hotel Management School Maastricht). ).
