Then there is another problem. Hassan is temporarily staying in Nijmegen, in the building of her management. Normally she lives and trains in Oregon, USA, but she hasn’t been there for almost a year due to visa problems and the corona virus. In the meantime she stayed in Ethiopia for an altitude internship.
“It is difficult to get an appointment at the US embassy, so we have to be patient. The plan is currently March 22nd. Hopefully it can be brought forward,” said her manager Sander Ogink.
The corona crisis has so far messed up her training schedule and the message that the Olympic Games were being postponed for a year came to the athlete at the right time, she previously told the NOS. “I was busy in my head, I was going a little crazy. Because I thought I had to build up to the Games and do everything perfectly.”
Manager Ogink is now working on a new altitude internship for Hassan, so that she can better prepare for the postponed Games that must take place in Tokyo in July. The ideal scenario is a stay in South Africa, but much is still uncertain at the present time.
