Health insurance to rise by 10 euros per month, government sources say

Basic health insurance is set up Costs over €10 per month Pay raises and other increases next year, The Telegraf reported on Thursday.
The paper’s claims are based on government sources who have suggested that the health ministry’s budget, due to be announced next Tuesday, will include a €10 monthly price increase.
The government determines the composition of basic medical insurance, and insurers are free to compete on issues such as price, additional premiums, and choice of hospital.
Last year, the government announced a €2.75 monthly increase in premiums, but most increased by €3 to €8.
The basic policy currently costs around 127 euros per month and the own risk component is 385 euros.
Health insurers must publish next year’s premiums by Nov. 12, before the six-week switchover period allows people to switch providers.
About 1.1 million people changed health insurance providers during the annual provider switching period late last year.
