Hockey star Eva de Goede is still thinking about participating in the Hockey World Cup next summer. The international is recovering well from the serious knee injury she sustained at the end of last year. “I’ll make a decision later, but things are going in the right direction and I think I can make it to the World Cup,” she told NOS before the final of the Euro Hockey League between Amsterdam and Den Bosch.

The World Cup is this summer in July in Spain and the Netherlands. De Goede has already played 251 games in Orange. Last summer she won the Olympic title for the third time in Tokyo. She broke her wrist prior to the Olympics, but she also recovered in time. She sustained the knee injury in an international match against Belgium in November. She tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee and damaged her meniscus. At the time, she thought she could put a line through the World Cup.

The Good isn’t thinking about quitting anyway, she said. She wants to play at least one more season for her new club HGC.
