The Indonesian Data Journalism Awards (IDJA) was held from 13th to 22nd February 2023 with the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Organized and launched by the Indonesian Data Journalism Network (IDJN), the event competes for the best data journalism reports produced by Indonesian journalists and media.
As emphasized in the opening speech by Ibu Wan Ulfa, Executive Director of IDJN, data journalism is very important.
The launch of IDJA was born out of a desire to help and further motivate the development of data journalism in Indonesia. In an era of increasing digital access and availability of news sources, it is important to emphasize the achievements of fact-based data journalism.
The IDJA event featured an exhibition by the contest finalists and several discussions with the country’s leading data journalists. The event culminated in his February 22 awards ceremony, where three inspiring pieces of data journalism were awarded based on originality, data accuracy, visual presentation, and public impact of their submissions. Chosen.
The award for excellence in environmental reporting went to Majara Tempo and a consortium of three international media partners. Project Multatuli won the data-driven investigative journalism category. Meanwhile, Narasi Newsroom won the Excellence Award in the Data Visualization category.
