EU – Kenya Business Forum 2023 | News Article

In February 2023, the first-ever EU-Kenya Business Forum was held here in Nairobi. The forum aimed to promote European trade and investment in Kenya by highlighting economic opportunities and potential, while also discussing areas for improvement. Dutch companies attended to share their expertise and experience in doing business in Kenya.

Our Deputy Ambassador Joris van Bommel moderated a panel discussion on Logistics and Freight. With this in mind, we said: CEVA Logistics We share our expertise and experience in doing business in Kenya. Axel Hertzhauser We will talk about doing business in Kenya and describe the business friendly environment. Discussing the opportunities, he said, “Kenya has great potential to export perishables to the world market,” and said, “(…) the fight against waste is needed to further improve this export.” Talking about the challenges, he looks ahead to the future, saying, “We need a comprehensive approach to dealing with the cold.” Chain transportation begins with refrigerated warehouses located near farms, relatively close to functional rails that can accommodate refrigerated containers. Agriculture is the backbone of Kenya’s economy, accounting for about a quarter of Kenya’s total GDP and 60% of export earnings from agricultural trade. Successive Kenyan governments have advocated stepping up efforts to create a vibrant agro-processing industry, especially to increase foreign exchange earnings and employment.
