The north of the Netherlands could experience snow and sleet overnight as winter weather sets in, weather forecaster says KNMI he said On Friday.

Snow is still possible in the southwest and coastal areas on Sunday as temperatures remain below freezing during the day.

Next week, temperatures will be at or near zero during the day, but will drop to -6 degrees Celsius at night, especially after Wednesday. There is also the possibility of snow showers.

According to the Weather Service Weerplaza, some outdoor skating rinks may be able to open next week.

Weerplaza points out that there is little wind in the forecast, which is good for ice growth.

KNMI’s long-range forecast through December 23rd continues to be chilly with an increasing chance of ‘rain’.
