For the first time since the beginning of December of 2021, the number of admitted corona patients is increasing significantly. On Monday, the National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution (LCPS) reported that there were 56 more admissions with corona patients compared to Sunday. The total number of corona patients admitted to hospital is 1,535 on Monday.
-1 on the IC
Of the total 1,535 corona patients admitted, 405 are currently in the ICU: 396 in the Netherlands and 9 in Germany. That is 1 less COVID patient in the ICU than yesterday. Of the COVID patients, 1,130 are in the clinic in the Netherlands, 57 more than yesterday. Yesterday, 3 supraregional movements of COVID patients were realized with the use of the LCPS.
Expectation: ‘increase in influx of new corona patients in mid-January’
The COVID occupancy in the ICU and in the clinic has decreased in the past week. The influx of COVID patients has stabilized over the past week. We are closely monitoring the impact of the omikron variant on the infection figures. The effects of this on hospital figures (influx and occupancy) are still unclear, but the influx of new patients is expected to increase again in mid-January 2022, according to the LCPS.
