Matteo Trentin can’t finish Tadej Pogacar’s work in Slovenia, Caleb Ewan wins in Belgium | Cycling

UAE Emirates won on Thursday with Pogacar and this time pulled the card from Matteo Trentin. The Italian was regarded on paper as one of the fastest men of the thinned out peloton. In the last kilometer Pogacar himself had to do some work for his sprinter after a late retirement by Jan Tratnik.

However, Trentin was unable to finish his leader’s work. In the last straight he was outflanked by Jon Aberasturi, who won, and Matej Mohoric also passed him.

Ewan wins in Belgium

In the Tour of Belgium the victory was for Caleb Ewan. The Australian completed the Lotto-Soudal team work excellently. Remco Evenepoel remains in the lead with a large lead.

Dylan van Groenewegen was not involved in the sprint. Countryman Danny van Poppel did better, finishing fourth behind Pascal Ackermann and Michael Morkov.

Démare at the party

Arnaud Démare has once again won a stage in a small French stage race. The Groupama-FDJ sprinter was ahead of Orluis Aular and Jacapo Mosca in the sprint. Andrea Vendrame finished eighth and retains the leader’s jersey.

Démare already won three stages in Boucles de la Mayenne at the end of May and also took the final classification there.
