MediaMarkt says it is still investigating what kind of attack is going on, but says it affects the company throughout Europe. The MediaMarkt stores will remain open for the time being, but only items from the stores can be paid for. Picking up orders and returning products is not possible.
RTL reports on the basis of internal documents – e-mails from the company to employees – that the retail chain asks employees not to use the computers in the stores. Also, the internet cables should be removed from the cash registers and systems should not be rebooted.
