Minister Hoekstra in Ukraine, meet Zelensky later today

Minister Hoekstra is in Ukraine. He traveled to the country with his German colleague Baerbock, but has his own program there. Hoekstra is scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President Zelensky, Foreign Minister Koeleba and parliamentarians.

A visit to the Dutch embassy in Kiev is also on the program. The embassy had been relocated to the western city of Lviv for security reasons and also operated from Poland for a few weeks. The embassy in Kiev has recently been occupied again and Hoekstra will officially open the diplomatic post today.

Hoekstra also went to Irpin, a suburb of Kiev, which has been badly hit.

Rutte will address Ukrainian parliament later this week

It is the first time since the start of the Russian invasion on February 24 that a Dutch minister has visited Ukraine. The purpose of the visit is mainly to encourage the Ukrainians and to pledge support again.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Rutte addresses the Ukrainian parliament. This is done via a video connection. He previously addressed the Ukrainian population in a video message. And Zelensky addressed the House of Representatives, also via an image link.
