The GGDs can hire permanent employees at test and vaccination locations who have reached the maximum number of temporary contracts, without adverse financial consequences. The Ministry of Health will pay any severance payments if these people are no longer needed after the corona crisis, a spokesperson reported.
Umbrella organization GGD GHOR warned earlier this week that experienced workers may have to be shown the door, because they have already had their temporary employment contract extended twice. According to the law, they must then be given a permanent position or be fired.
That comes at an extremely inopportune time. Due to the high infection rate, many people are currently being tested and it is expected that this will remain the case for a while. In addition, a lot of manpower will be needed at the GGDs in the coming months to give everyone who wants a booster vaccination.
