It will cool down after Wednesday and it will also be less warm in most places in the coming days. The KNMI Royal Meteorological Institute and the RIVM will of course remain alert to new periods of persistent heat.
The National Heat Plan was active throughout the country from Monday 18 July to Wednesday 20 July. The plan will come into effect if a period of sustained heat is expected. Persistent warm weather poses a health risk to certain groups of people. Very young children, the elderly, people in care homes, the chronically ill and overweight people are particularly high-risk groups.
