Code orange warning issued for storms in canton Drenthe and Groningen

The National Meteorological Institute KNMI reports that the code orange will also apply on Sunday in the provinces of Drenthe and Groningen. Prior to this, the KNMI had already issued code orange for the provinces of Overijssel, Gelderland, North Brabant and Limburg due to severe thunderstorms. Also, hail and violent squalls are possible.

In Canton Drenthe and Groningen, Code Orange applies from 3pm to 7pm. After that, Code Yellow will be in effect in those states until 8pm. Only Code Yellow is enforced in the western half of the country.

KNMI warns of dangers and damage such as severe hail and fallen trees. A lot of rain in a short period of time and flooding is possible in some places.

Several festivals, including the Awakenings and Bospop Festival, were canceled on Sunday due to expected rainstorms.
