In the past 24 hours, just under 32,000 corona infections have been discovered by the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). A day earlier, a new record was reached with a now corrected number of 35,489 positive tests. 31,963 infections were discovered between Friday and Saturday morning.

In seven days, RIVM registered 222,418 positive tests, compared to 162,461 a week earlier. On average, 31,774 people were told that they were infected with the virus per day in the past week.

With 2862 positive test results, the most infections were established in Amsterdam in the past 24 hours. This is followed by The Hague with 1458 and Rotterdam with 1407. In Almere 632 people tested positive and in Zaanstad 627 people.

In the past 24 hours, 6 deaths related to the coronavirus were reported to RIVM. This does not mean that they also died within that time, because this is sometimes passed on later. The actual number of deaths may also be higher, because the death of a corona patient does not have to be reported. A total of 76 deaths were reported between last Sunday and this Saturday, compared to 122 the week before. The weeks before that, the number of deaths stood at 248 and 288, which means a decrease in the number of deaths in the past four weeks.
