Olympic Games opening ceremony starts in almost empty stadium | Sport

Due to all the corona restrictions, the opening ceremony in the Olympic Stadium will have a completely different character than usual. The athletes who participate in the flag parade enter an almost empty stadium in which only a few hundred VIPs are seated. Public is not welcome at the Games in Tokyo.

Athlete Churandy Martina, who is entering his fifth Olympics at the age of 37, and debuting skateboarder Keet Oldenbeuving (16) carry the Dutch flag. They take 40 athletes and supervisors from TeamNL into the stadium. The Dutch sports team has been startled by three corona infections in recent days.
