Leidschenveen-Ipenburg district celebrates 20th anniversary with exhibitions and books

Leidschenveen-Ypenburg District Councilor Kavita Parbhudayal will present the exhibition “Feest in de Vinex” on Monday 23 January at 17.15 at the Tramtunnel Gallery in the City Archives of The Hague. She is also presented with the first copy of her book “Feest in de Vinex, 20 jaar Leidschenveen-Ypenburg”.

“What started here as a Vinex location with mostly young families in the former Ypenburg airport and surroundings has grown into a full-fledged urban district with lots of green, water and play facilities. It’s the place,” says Kavita Parvdayal.

The name Vinex comes from the 4th Memorandum of Understanding on Spatial Planning Extras (1993) in which the central government allocated areas on the edge of metropolitan areas for new construction. On January 1, 2002, Yppenburg, Hoornweig and Leidschenveen were added to The Hague as his Vinex base along with his Forepark business park, and the district was renamed Leidschenveen He Ypenburg. His eighth urban district of The Hague has been around for 20 years now, but its rich inhabited history predates him more than 3,800 years.

Images include amazing musical walks, photo projects, epic end of summer festivals, beautiful encounters with Haags Verhaal, neighborhood portraits and more.

The book “Feest in de Vinex, 20 jaar Leidschenveen- Ypenburg” will also be published in conjunction with the exhibition. This book provides a retrospective of the anniversary year “Feest in de Vinex”. We also look to the future together with the residents concerned and the employees of gemente.
