Orange women ‘wait calmly’ after Belarus boycott and hope for a wise decision UEFA

“We have no say in this, but I am also happy that the KNVB is taking on that role,” says Orange international Merel van Dongen. “I also think it’s good that the players don’t have to fight for social issues.”

“The KNVB and UEFA must figure this out together,” said Van Dongen, who does not hope that UEFA will award a regulatory defeat to the Orange, with the associated risk that the World Cup will be missed.

“Of course, it would hurt my football heart, so I really hope that there will be another solution. In Ukraine they have a lot more pain, but it is clear that we do not want to miss the World Cup.”
