Organizer Friends of Amstel Live: ‘I am very angry’ | Culture

“We feel numb,” organizer Machiel Hofman of Tribe Company told the AP. “You see and feel it coming, but I am still very angry.”

The organizers of the concert series did set up the stage last week and did the rehearsals in the hypothetical case that the series could be kicked off on Saturday. That is not the case, it became clear on Friday. On January 25, the current corona measures will be reviewed. The Friends of Amstel Live officially lasts until January 28, but there will be a definitive line through this year’s series. “We cannot organize this for one, two or three evenings, if everything could open again from the 25th. It’s all too big for that.”

Hofman says that the events sector especially yearns for some clarity. According to him, it is missing. “The sector is mentioned a little more often these days, but we don’t buy anything for it. We really need a road to the exit and there is always none,” says Hofman. “There has to be a long-term plan, something for two, three, four months.”

However, he is not going to give up. “We may be frustrated for a few more days, but then we’ll go for it again. Put your shoulders down and make beautiful things.”
