PEC remains desolately last, partly due to a hopelessly missed penalty against RKC

PEC Zwolle has thrown in its own glasses at the home debut of head coach Dick Schreuder. The last league in the Eredivisie seemed unaware of the sporting interests in the home game with RKC (0-0).

Illustrative was Daishawn Redan’s penalty, who drove the ball at least a meter over Etienne Vaessen’s goal after an hour of play.

Where is Bram van Polen when you need him? That would not have happened to the 36-year-old captain, but the figurehead of warring Zwolle residents was sitting with an injury in the empty stands of the MAC3PARK stadium.

Busy at Zwolle

Without fans, a concrete colossus remained as the backdrop for this basement cracker against RKC, which in turn is also far from spacious at just one place above the post-competition line.

But the pressure was clearly on Zwolle, where trainer Art Langeler no longer saw any perspective and Schreuder has to try to save what can still be saved. After the false start with a sweep against Feyenoord, his hand against RKC should then become a little visible for the first time.
