PSV will know after tonight which goalkeepers will start the new football year. The people of Eindhoven are also counting on the services of Yvon Mvogo for the coming Eredivisie season, who has to compete with Joël Drommel.

RB Leipzig owns the transfer rights to the closing post and had an option to bring him back to Germany this summer, but did not take advantage of it until midnight. At twelve o’clock the option expired.
Mvogo came to PSV on a rental basis for two seasons last season. He succeeded Lars Unnerstall, who left for FC Twente. Jeroen Zoet also went to the Italian Spezia. From the first moment that Mvogo was in Eindhoven, he became the first keeper. He was never completely uncontroversial and even started badly, but also showed in some duels that he can be valuable for the team.
Last month, the Swiss goalkeeper was active at the European Championship and surprised his country, but Mvogo himself did not play. RB Leipzig did not need him for their own goalkeeper brigade anyway, but did look at whether he could be sold to another club. There was interest from Italy, but no team wanted to meet the asking price. That would reportedly be around five million euros.
Drommel has defended the goal in the PSV practice matches in recent weeks. He had the young Vincent Müller and Aron van Lare as colleagues during the PSV training camp in Germany. Drommel was already signed by PSV in April so as not to get into trouble, in case Mvogo was also recalled. Now the newcomer has to compete with last season’s number 1.
The opponent of PSV in the second preliminary round of the Champions League has corona problems in the selection. Galatasaray reported Friday evening that two positive tests from its own players have come from a test round. It is not yet known which players are involved.
PSV will take on the Turkish team on Wednesday evening, which already has a wobbly preparation and now has a narrower core due to the loss of two players. The list of exhibition games was also shorter than people wanted, because an exhibition game with Olympiakos was cancelled.
Galatasaray is Turkey’s number two and PSV was second in the Eredivisie last year. Due to the loss of Manchester United in the Europa League, both major clubs are already in the second qualifying round of the Champions League.
