Queen Elizabeth not to Sandringham for Christmas | royals

According to Sky News, it is a personal decision by the Queen, which was taken after “careful consideration”. Necessary precautions will be taken at Windsor in connection with the coronavirus.

Normally, the Queen travels to her estate before Christmas, where her children and grandchildren also come. Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, among others, are back this year, as is Prince William with his wife Catherine and their children. Her youngest son Prince Edward, his wife Sophie and their children Louise and James are also invited.

The Queen has had to cancel her traditional Christmas lunch with extended family members this time. This was previously decided due to concerns about the omicron variant of the coronavirus.

Last year, Elizabeth also chose to stay at Windsor and spend the holidays quietly with her husband Prince Philip. It will be her first Christmas without Philip this year. He passed away in April this year.
